Brief
Design immersive retail experiences for India’s first homegrown superhero merchandise brand. Target audience spanned kids, teens, and young adults with merchandise ranging from ₹100 badges to ₹50,000 collectibles.
 
My Role
  • Designed & launched 25+ superhero-themed stores across India
  • Unified multiple IPs (Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Cartoon Network, Disney) under one brand identity
  • Standardized VM (racks, trial rooms) while keeping unique store aesthetics
  • Created quirky in-store communication with copywriters to engage fans
  • Balanced color cohesion across diverse superhero universes
  • Drove business scalability & fan experience simultaneously
  • Reality check: Retail struggled in COVID due to high mall rents & halted imports
Challenges & Approach
  • Fan-first Design: Stores needed to cater to multiple fandoms (Marvel, DC, Cartoon Network, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Disney, etc.) while maintaining a consistent PSH brand identity.
  • Unique Store Themes: Conceptualized 25+ stores where each outlet carried the overarching superhero vibe but had distinct aesthetics. Fixtures like racks and trial rooms were standardized; facades and visuals were customized per store.
  • Merchandise Mix: Designed VM to display in-house fashion and stationery alongside imported toys and high-ticket collectibles.
  • Visual Storytelling: Worked with copywriters to create witty in-store communication, blending quirk and character energy.
  • Color & Brand Cohesion: Unified disparate character color schemes into PSH’s brand palette while retaining excitement and freshness.
  • COVID Reality: The retail model struggled with high mall rentals and halted imports during COVID—an idea ahead of its time, but affected by external factors.
